Detail of cut glass vase

David Encill, the author of the new book on Chance glass "Chance Expressions", will be signing copies of his book as well as curating the Chance glass exhibition. This is the only comprehensive book on this area of collecting and is extensively and beautifully illustrated throughout.

The exhibition space

The exhibition will be located in the foyer at the foot of the stairs to the balcony. The cabinets allow close inspection of the glass and there is plenty of room to view the items.

Visitors may well have seen identical pieces on sale at the fair as any of the items were produced in significant quantities.

There will also be examples of cut and intaglio pieces produced in much smaller quantities and therefore commensurately rarer.

Many iconic Chance designs will be on display and if you would like to know why a Giraffe Carafe is so named, or how light house lenses inspired the Spiderweb range, David will be pleased to answer these and any other questions that you may have.
