The June issue of antiquexplorer MAGAZINE now out

June Issue
antiquexplorer MAGAZINE

Editor's note: "This issue is geared toward recycling with a bit of panache. We also offer you an abundance of restorers, a group of craftsmen and a selection of salvage experts. Today, it seems that every twisty, narrow lane in the area has at least one sign pointing to a studio or gallery.

Our feature, ‘Tomorrow’s Treasure’ showcases the work of artists and craftsmen whose works are highly collectable today and are likely to offer great investment opportunities. Obviously it’s not the first time that has been said, but what with the current economic climate, I felt we had a duty to push it home to the many interested readers and young professionals out there.

So, the question is: what to buy? How about a piece of contemporary art, a tactile piece of pottery or a one-off sculpture? The idea is to be very discerning regarding your purchases and buy the very best you can afford and select items which are not fashion-led, but which have a timeless quality.

The gardening market is traditionally strong at this time of year. So, whatever the weather, this is the time that we all like to spend more time outdoors – and that’s when we start to think that maybe our gardens and homes could do with a revamp. The idea of reusing period items that in the present market would be practically impossible to reproduce, is a great idea as the quality and individuality offered is so often missing in many of today’s contemporary garden centres.

Enrolling the help of experts from your local reclamation yard, specialist shop or gardening event can be very rewarding; an architectural folly, fountain or statue for example can add drama, a focal point and value to both your garden and home! I am currently in the throws of ripping out my own garden and have found renewed enthusiasm from putting this issue together and hope it will do the same for you.

So, if you are into handcrafted and vintage goods – as we all should be by now – and want to furnish your home and garden with items that do not look as though they have come from the nearest trade warehouse, then look no further than the specialists within this issue..."

New Gallery of Fair Pictures

We are often asked by first time visitors to the fair what they are going to see at the fair. Its difficult to know where to start describing the glass and so instead we have created a gallery of photos taken at the fair.

If you've never been to a glass fair have a look at the gallery and make a date for October to see it for real. If you're a regular re-live the day and share it with friends and other enthusiasts.

To view the gallery click here or use the menu link at the top of the page.
